“Be There for Me” is a soulful, sunny and uplifting number. Mariam’s soothing vocals glide over a bright explosion of natural, organic pop sounds and an empowering gospel-fueled chorus, a clear nod to the Nigerian beauty’s time with the London Community Gospel Choir.
Despite the song’s cheery sound, the lyrics are an exploration of “unrequited love [and] it speaks about that moment you realize you can’t make anyone love you or reciprocate affection”, according to the South London diva.
