Update, Nov 20th 2023: According to an official announcement from the ARTMS X account, the English version of ODD EYE CIRCLE’s “Sweet Crazy Love” has a confirmed release date of Nov 24th, 6PM KST! The ultra cute, hand-drawn artwork is below:
As voted for by fans, the beloved LOONA sub-unit ODD EYE CIRCLE will be remaking their cult 2017 hit “Sweet Crazy Love” into an English version.
As part of a contest via the Cosmo app – a virtual portal created by their agency MODHAUS as a way to forge deeper connections with fans – four ODD EYE CIRCLE jams were put head-to-head, with the outcome being that the winning song will be remade into an English version. The four options as presented by MODHAUS, and the final vote counts, are as follows:
- “Sweet Crazy Love” – 19,845
- “Girl Front” – 17,633
- “Je Ne Sais Quoi” – 4,180
- “Air Force One” – 1,448
The competition was clearly between “Sweet Crazy Love” (which ODD EYE CIRCLE perfomed as the closing number for their recent Volume Up European tour) and fellow 2017 hit “Girl Front”, the iconic fan-favorite single which accelerated LOONA’s ascension to viral sensations.
“Je Ne Sais Quoi” – a stormingly sassy B-side from the group’s comeback EP Volume Up – brought in just over 4K votes, while ODD EYE CIRCLE’s latest title track “Air Force One” came in last at a surprising 1.4K votes.
No further details for the “Sweet Crazy Love” English remake, including a release date, have been revealed as yet – however, being that the track was originally written in English by hitmaker Charli Taft, it will be interesting to hear this updated version of “Sweet Crazy Love”.
