South London singer-songwriter Lola Young is back with a bold new track, “Charlie,” featuring none other than US rap sensation Lil Yachty. This unexpected collaboration has produced a truly dynamic single that showcases the best of both artists, blending Lola’s raw emotional intensity with Lil Yachty’s genre-defying flow.

The connection between the two artists came about naturally, as Lil Yachty quickly became a fan of Lola’s unapologetic style and mesmerizing performances. “Charlie” feels like a conversation between kindred spirits, each artist bringing a unique edge to the track. Together, Lola and Lil Yachty have crafted a sound that pushes boundaries, offering fans something fresh and undeniably compelling. “‘Charlie’ feels like the music I’ve always wanted to make,” Lola said of the track, “it’s raw, it’s honest, and it’s something only Yachty and I could create together.”

Alongside “Charlie,” Lola is also featured on “Like Him” from Tyler, The Creator’s latest album, CHROMAKOPIA, adding another exciting layer to her already impressive year. Her own album, This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway, released earlier this year, has marked a pivotal point in Lola’s career. Produced in Los Angeles with close collaborator Solomonophonic, the record reflects Lola’s signature blend of humor, anger, and lyrical sharpness. Singles like “Wish You Were Dead,” “Conceited,” and “Messy” have already gained traction, cementing her place as one of the UK’s most distinct voices.

Fresh off the North American leg of her This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway tour, Lola is now gearing up for her UK and European runs this winter. Her UK tour in December is set to culminate in a highly anticipated sold-out show at London’s O2 Kentish Town Forum on December 10, upgraded from Brixton Electric due to high demand. Next February, she’ll kick off her European tour with dates in Paris, Brussels, Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne, and Amsterdam, bringing her sound to audiences across the continent.

Lola Young’s star is on the rise, and “Charlie” is proof that she’s just getting started on her journey to redefine what it means to be a British artist in 2024.
