The beloved cult duo FEMM have marked the end of an era with the release of their farewell project CHERRY, fronted by the emotional video for their final single “CHERRY on TOP”.
A poignant clip celebrating FEMM’s iconic outfits and viral dance moves over the years, which won over global audiences during their decade-long reign as Japan’s kookiest export, the reference-filled “CHERRY on TOP” captures everything fans came to love about FEMM. Ending on a deeply meaningful scene of RiRi and LuLa placing a veil over motionless models of themselves in their signature uniforms, “CHERRY on TOP” symbolizes FEMM’s last moment as we watch them emotionally say goodbye to their iconic characters.
“CHERRY on TOP” is lifted from FEMM’s last EP Cherry, a five track project released as part of their ‘Last FEMMIsation’ activities. Alongside four new gems, Cherry also includes a rework of their fan-favorite cult hit “We Flood the Night” by MYLK to close out FEMM’s epic catalogue.
Debuting in 2013, FEMM’s larger than life artpop saw them deliver fashion-forward gems instantly resulting in global notoriety for their ‘mannequin’ concept; a concept which catapulted them to viral attention when FEMM’s megahit “Fxxk Boyz Get Money” took the internet by storm.
As heartbroken as we are to see FEMM go their separate ways, Cherry is a beautiful reminder of FEMM’s brilliance and lets the duo go out with a bang – FEMM, we wish you all the best with your future activities!
