Norwegian pop riser Emma Jensen returns to the spotlight with her new single “August”.
Following her September release, “Part of the Story,” this beautiful and melancholic pop track captures the essence of autumn and offers a space for those experiencing heartache—or those simply wishing to borrow a bit of it.
After a self-imposed break, Emma reflects on the transition from summer to fall: “Summer can be such an insistent time. You’re expected to enjoy the good weather and be social, leaving little room to feel the tough emotions.” Drawing from her own experiences, she shares how a difficult summer left her feeling disconnected and adrift.
“”August” features contributions from her brother Fabian Jensen, a regular collaborator and an integral part of her musical journey. Their spontaneous songwriting session reignited Emma’s initial ideas from a couple of years ago, leading to a new melody that unlocked the song’s potential. “It’s funny how this quite painful song brings up such positive associations,” she shares.
As Emma prepares to share “August” with the world, she admits to the nerves that accompany new releases. “It feels almost uncomfortable to let music go after it’s been crafted with such care. It takes time to finalize everything for a release, creating a distance that’s both good and bad.”
“August” offers a fresh autumnal vibe – dark, beautiful, and poignant, it’s a track that invites listeners to feel deeply, whether they’re grappling with their own struggles or simply seeking to connect with the contrasting emotions of life.
