K-pop powerhouse Kep1er has made an exciting comeback with their sixth mini-album, TIPI-TAP, marking their first release as a septet. This mini-album comes at a transformative time for the group, as they embrace a fresh chapter following the departure of members Mashiro and Kang Ye-seo earlier this year.
The title track and lead single, TIPI-TAP, showcases Kep1er’s new sonic direction, blending hyper-pop elements with playful energy that radiates throughout the album. The music video invites fans to join the members in a dreamy playground in the sky, where they sing, “Run, crush on you / Run, crush on you / Can’t stop my crush on you / The code is L-O-V-E,” as they dance among fluffy clouds. The song captures both the charm and individuality of Kep1er’s remaining seven members, who have committed to continuing their journey with a revitalized spirit.
In a recent interview, leader Yujin shared the album’s inspiration: “‘TIPI-TAP’ plays on the name of the paper fortune teller and the sound of footsteps, symbolizing our journey to find our own path in life.” Dayeon added, “It contains our resolution in starting fresh. The title track is a hyper-pop song that we’ve never tried before, and I think the new challenge really embodied our newfound positive energy as Kep1er.”
Originally formed through the survival show Girls Planet 999, Kep1er was a temporary group that defied expectations and extended their contracts, even as two members returned to their original agency to debut in MADEIN. Their last project as a nine-member group was the highly praised Kep1going On and its lead single Shooting Star, released in June.
With TIPI-TAP, Kep1er proves they’re more than ready to step confidently into this new chapter. The septet’s unity, creativity, and optimism shine through every track, making this release a powerful statement of resilience and growth.
As fans dive into TIPI-TAP, it’s clear that Kep1er’s future remains bright in a celebration of their ongoing journey and an affirmation of their commitment to each other and their fans.
