Put on your crown and cue the reverb – (G)I-DLE just dropped the parentheses. Meet i-dle: same queens, brand new era.
After quietly scrubbing their socials and teasing a visual glow-up, the girls have officially rebranded. The “G” (which stood for “girl” at debut) is dead and buried – literally. To celebrate their 7th anniversary, the group launched the (G) EXHIBITION in Korea, complete with a casket installation to lay their debut identity to rest. Dramatic? Absolutely. Deserved? Even more so.
Their new pre-release drop, We are i-dle, hears all nine of their title tracks re-recorded with the current five-member lineup (MIYEON, MINNIE, SOYEON, YUQI, SHUHUA), giving fans reloaded, re-polished, reborn versions of hits like “TOMBOY,” “LATATA,” and “Oh my god.” It’s nostalgia with contour.
A cinematic trailer – featuring a deliciously reworked “LATATA” – serves as the group’s reintroduction moment. Think origin story but make it high fashion. Meanwhile, concept teasers for their upcoming 8th mini-album (dropping May 19) are giving “artsy girl group in their villain arc” and honestly, we’re obsessed.
To top it off, i-dle dropped a new logo that’s equal parts cryptic and cute – a constellation of lowercase letters and dots, forming a five-pointed star symbolising each member’s shine. It’s giving K-pop x sacred geometry and we’re into it.
i-dle are rewriting the rules again – and the only thing we can do is watch, stream, and stan.
