Tops and Bottoms of Drag Queen Music
YAS! To celebrate the RuTurn of RuPaul’s Drag Race (season 8 hunty!), here are my top and bottom picks of some of the queens who ventured into music after appearing on the show.
Tops:
Sahara Davenport – “Pump With Me”
A cute and uplifting house bop with some sassy one liners and a fierce breakdown.
Shangela – “Werqin’ Girl (Professional)”
Energetic and upbeat which should give you the confidence to slay your next job interview. Also, that Kardashian shade!
Manila Luzon – “Hot Couture”
Elegant and fabulous, who else but the Lady Gaga of drag?
Sharon Needles – “Dracula”
The explosive chorus, creative lyrics and a stuttering bass line makes this a legit bop.
Miss Fame – “Life Is Beautiful”
Mellow and introspective. Very different from the club bops the queens tend to serve.
Adore Delano – “I Adore U”
Who knew the queen of Party could give us the feels like this?
Pandora Boxx – “Nice Car! (Shame About Your Penis)”
Intelligently hilarious calling out of all those nasty men out there. Expose that patriarchy sis!
Bottoms:
Jessica Wild – “Absolutely”
Dreadful lyrics, dreadful vocals and dreadful production.
Tammie Brown – “Love Pinata”
Probably one of the worst songs to ever hit my eardrums.
Laganja Estranja – “Legs (feat. Rye Rye)”
This would actually be a decent bop if it weren’t for Laganja’s insufferable voice.
Willam – “Boy Is a Bottom (feat. Detox & Vicky Vox)”
This isn’t funny, it’s annoying. You tried it, sistrens.
Tatianna – “Touch”
Probably one of the worst songs to ever hit my eardrums.[2]
Courtney Act – “Ecstasy”
This would actually be a decent bop if it weren’t for Courtney’s insufferable voice.
What about you, sistrens? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter (@shebopsblog)!
