The UK’s emerging R&B vocalist Mabel has at long last put out her first body of work – the Bedroom EP.
Mabel’s Bedroom is nothing like a snooze fest, due to the EP’s four seductive and sultry R&B jams. Kicking off with the title track, Mabel’s honeyed vocals glaze “Bedroom”’s bold, up-tempo urban beat; “you can only see me in the bedroom, bedroom,” Mabel expresses to “Bedroom”’s distant and emotionally unavailable love interest. “Finders Keepers” and “Ride or Die” are both on the tenderer and silkier side of the spectrum with their fragile beats, before Mabel amps things up again with “Talk about Forever”’s chorus, an eclectic spin on Ghost Town DJ’s iconic booty bounce anthem “My Boo”.
The Bedroom EP continues to carve out the niche sound which has enabled the 21 year old to gather a cult following since dropping her first single in 2015 – refreshingly honest song writing, laid out neatly over synth-infused R&B melodies.
